Keywords: Search
On its web page, Google is currently claiming to provide search results over an index of 8,058,044,651 web pages (something they display on the bottom of their web page).
This is now pretty much a standard practice for most of the new (vertical) search engines to display some kind of metrics. A few examples taken at the time of creation of this post:
- simplyhired.com (searching 3,863,121 jobs)
- feedster.com ( 11,167,501 feeds indexed and fully searchable)
- technorati.com/search (Currently tracking 13.3 million sites and 1.3 billion links.)
- technocrati.com/tags (Currently tracking 1.5 million tags. Last updated 1:11 AM PST.)
- topix.net (300,000 topics)
- snap.com (16,043,708 searches)
- indeed.com (129,408 new jobs in the last 24 hours)
- bloglines.com ( July 13, 2005: 581,144,817 Articles Indexed)
No fame in claiming to cover 000,000,000,005 resumes ;)
